The Electrochemical Materials and Applications Research Group at Aalto University (Finland)

Our research mission is to accelerate the rational design and discovery of materials for sustainable electrochemical energy technologies. We are particularly curious about understanding nanoscale physicochemical phenomena that control performance and degradation of electrode materials. This fundamental knowledge enables us to identify key rules for designing enhanced materials. Our innovative approach involves advanced electrochemical experimentation with high-throughput and combinatorial capabilities.

Our main research areas include green hydrogen production and electrocatalytic valorisation of low-value resources such as biomass.

Our ultimate goal is advancing fundamental electrochemical materials science but also contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

We will be offering several PhD positions during 2025. Check Aalto’s open positions regularly for any potential announcements.

We cannot accept applications via email, but if you are interested in joining us, please contact Daniel to explore potential opportunities. We are always looking for motivated and talented researchers whose profiles align with our research areas.
